Dr. Eric Schmidt grew up in Boulder, Colo., and attended the University of Colorado, where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology in 1988 and 1991. He moved to San Francisco for his former work in biology research. He then attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
 
He has been at Alameda Family Dental Practice since 2004. He has also worked as dental director of Sonrisas Community Clinic in Half Moon Bay, Calif., and taught dentistry at the University of the Pacific Dental School. His special interests include research on jaw joint problems and providing care for children and adults who are afraid of dental work. He is a member of the board of directors of the Alameda County Dental Society.  Dr. Schmidt is also a certified Invisalign provider. He enjoys working on old broken cars, traveling with his wife and son, playing with his two dogs, sea kayaking, bicycling and reading lots of dental literature in his free time.
